Marcus: I was self taught...more so reading and hands on is what has taught me....still learning daily.

Me: Have you ever worked at a makeup counter? Do you think working at a makeup counter is important or necessary to be a successful makeup artist?

Marcus: I used to work for MAC cosmetics I was with them for five years....great experience, I think working at a makeup counter can give great experience for someone it gets you familiar with all face types.

Interview with Reality Star Kamille 'Hot Wingz' Leai!!

Interview with Reality Star Kamille 'Hot Wingz' Leai!!
You all may remember the extremely beautiful and spunky Kamille 'Hot Wingz' Leai from Real Chance of Love and I Love Money 4 some years ago. But there is so much more to this super nice and hardworking woman! She has such an amazing look and her makeup is always on point. So I knew that she loves makeup and beauty just as much as I do. You can almost imagine how excited I was to do this interview with her! This girl knows her stuff when it comes to beauty and makeup so she shared some really helpful and insightful information! So check out this interview with my girl Kamille Leai!

Me: How long were you a makeup Artist and what made you get in that field? Do you still do other people's makeup?

Kamille: I was a makeup artist for MAC for just a few months actually...I would say almost 6. They sent me to school and everything. I worked at the Nordstrom counter in Southpoint Mall in North Carolina. When I went to move back to Maryland I couldn't transfer to any other counters because there were none open...so I just had to quit! I do other peoples makeup sometimes...just my friends when they ask me to because we are going out.

Me: If you were to dump everything out of your purse, what makeup products would you find?

Kamille: It would be concealer, blush and eye lash glue. lol. thats definitely the essentials to my everyday look. Im good with just walking out the house in a little bit of concealer, a little blush, and definitely my lashes! Lashes are a MUST!

Me: Being in the entertainment industry and a makeup artist yourself, do you notice that most makeup artists use the same brand of Makeup on their clients? If so, does that make you question their skills?

Kamille: I noticed a lot of artist using brands that I've actually never heard of. Me being a MAC girl I always thought you needed to only use MAC to look flawless...but when MUA's would do my makeup and pull out products I never seen or heard of I have to admit I was a bit skeptical.. But once I saw my final look was when I told myself I need to start broadening my makeup horizons and step outside my comfort zone with just brands I know. Makeup is makeup..Alot of unknown brands can give you just as good of a flawless look.
Me: Your face is always beat everytime I see your photos. Do you do your own makeup?

Kamille: I always do my own makeup. Even for my shoots sometimes. There are times I don't do my own though.  You would definitely know because I always show love to the MUA's by letting people know they are the one's that beat this face at the time!
Me: There are so many celebs coming out with their own makeup line. Have you ever considered doing that?

Kamille: You know what bothers me... WAY before a few of the celebs have ever came out with there line I've BEEN working on mine. I have been putting a line together for almost a year now. And people don't really know that, cuz when my line comes out IM the one thats gonna look like I'm just trying to follow "the trend".. but honestly,Makeup takes time. I don't wanna be like some of these people that just slap their name on a product and sell it just to make money and say they have a "line".. A few eyeshadows isn't a "line" of makeup. And I mean that without the shade. But my line is an actual LINE. Brow Kits, brow stencils, 150 eyeshadows, mineral shadows, eyeliners, liquid eyeliners in all sorts of colors, lipsticks that come in matte, cream, metallic, lip gloss', liquid foundations, powder foundations, cream foundations, loose foundation, cream blushes, loose eyeshadows, skin care productions, etc...THAT is a makeup LINE! THAT is KLeai Cosmetics. And when it launches people will understand why it took so long to be released, because its a complete line of makeup...it takes some time to create a REAL brand.

Me: I've seen your hair in so many different amazing styles!! What inspires your change in hair style? What's your favorite hair color?

Kamille: Honestly..Im a libra, I get bored very easily, and that includes my look.
Lol. I can't tell you how many times I have changed my hair. But one thing is for certain, I'm DEFINITELY staying blonde. I partnered with my hair supplier BellaDreamHair to release our own WAND. I am ADDICTED to wand curls. And I'm constantly getting complimented on them on my instagram, twitter, and in person.. So it made sense to make my look another brand as well. Every girl gotta love wand curls. I can't wait until we release this wand..People are gonna eat it up!

Me: Your latest photoshoot with the body paint was sooooooo cool!!! What was the concept of that shoot??
Kamille: Thank you :) There was really no concept besides the fact that we just wanted to make art. I was painted by @TheArtistEd and the rest is history.
The pictures that @2020Photography shot came out SO dope.. All of them haven't even been released yet. But I'm more than happy with what we created.

Me: When you're.not being in the public eye, doing shoots, events, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Kamille: Spare time isn't really spare time for me. I'm lucky I got to go on a vacation recently. But I have a LOT going on..too much to just have days relaxing. Im a video editor so there's day when I'm editing videos. Im a music artist, so I'm the studio ALOT.. almost everyday, and when I'm not in the studio, Im writing songs to record the next time I am. I work on my makeup line to get ready for that release. Im apart of a few reality show projects, one in which I am producing and editing myself. I'm a working girl. I'll have time to relax once I reach the top. But as for right now, I have no time to chill.. It may seem like I am.. But thats what I want people to think. So when they see what I've really been up to, it will completely take them by surprise!

I am so happy to have had the chance to interview Kamille Leai! She has been working so hard and her cosmetic line, KLEAI Cosmetics, will be coming out really really soon! The line will start off with a brow kit, which will include brow shadow, brow gel, stencils, and a brow tutorial, with the option of adding concealer. Her brows are always so neat and perfect so I can't wait to try out her brow kit! Her complete line will include everything from eyeshadows to lipgloss! So be sure to support her when it launches!

So forget what you thought you knew about Kamille Leai. She is a business woman and when it comes to beauty and makeup, she knows her stuff! She has been quietly working behind the scenes perfecting her cosmetic line so that she produces quality beauty products for us makeup addicts! So stay tuned because once it launches I will be the first in line to support her and her products!

She will keep us posted on the launch date of her cometic line so follow her to stay updated:

Again, thank you so much, Kamille Leai, for doing this interview with me! I admire her perseverance and dedication! Sending so much love and support your way because I know you have so much in store and amazing things ahead!!!

Interview with Fashionista Hollywood Posh!!!

My beauty of the day is fashionista Hollywood Posh! I came across her on Instagram. I kept seeing her picture on the popular page and her fashion sense was the bomb!! She has been featured on other popular fashion blogs for her fashion genius! So I was so happy when she agreed to interview with me. I was able to get to know her and gain some insight on her fashion game!!

Me: How did you get into fashion?

Hollywood Posh: My mom and dad were always into clothing.

Me: How would you describe your style? Trendsetter?

Hollywood Posh: I don’t believe in trends. And I don’t follow trends. I basically start my own. And I don’t consider myself as a trend. Like, I prefer no one follow me, You know, create their own trend.

Me: So you just prefer people to look up to you as inspiration but just do their own thing?

Hollywood Posh: Right, right do your own thing definitely.

Me: On Instagram you are always on the popular page. Were you promoting fashion?

Hollywood Posh: It happened over night. I've been doing it on Twitter and other pages. But on Instagram, it started overnight. Basically I post my pictures and I went from 200 one day to 10,000 overnight. I haven't had Instagram that long. It just went from me posting pictures, and it happened overnight. I just posted my daily outfits, stuff I like, eyeglasses, or my shoes and they liked it. And I just started making the popular page 5 times a day. It started with me just making it 1 time and then 5 times a day, 10 times a day. People started hearing about me, people started hearing about me in Miami, Philly, New Orleans, etc.

Me: So you're only on Twitter and Instagram? You're not on YouTube or anything?

Hollywood Posh: Well actually my fans requested I do YouTube videos. But with school going on I don’t really have time for that. But maybe I will start in the summertime. So just to try to help my fans with their daily styling I will start one once I finish this last semester.

Me: So right now youre a full time student?

Hollywood Posh: Yes I am!

Me: So what are your favorite brands and why?

Hollywood Posh: Favorite brands…umm I have so many. I'll give a high end and low end. High end would be Chanel because of course its classic. Low end would be H&M, I love H&M.

Me: So what would you say is a must have/staple item in a woman or guys closet?

Hollywood Posh: Men and women, everybody needs a nice timepiece.

Me: As far as your boutique, tell me about it? Is it an online boutique or an actual store you're opening?

Hollywood Posh: Its based online Posh World Boutique. Eventually I will expand and get a location. But for right now since I'm a college student, that’s a lot to sign up for.
www.poshworldboutique.com
Me: What type of things can your fans expect from your boutique?

Hollywood Posh: Basically anything I wear. I wouldn’t sell anything that I wouldn’t wear myself. So leggings, fitted dresses, blouses, blazers, sunglasses, accessories, all that. Anything that you would see me wear you'll probably see on my website.

Me: Is it for men and women?

Hollywood Posh: No just for women. Eventually I am going to do men's but not at the moment.

Me: Will you have a full range of sizes?

Hollywood Posh: I'll have a variety of sizes. XS to XL.I think if you're more than a XL you probably don’t need to be in leggings. So yeah XS to XL.*laughs*

Me: What made you want to open the store?

Hollywood Posh: Because I feel like. To me there's not many boutiques online. There's a lot of different boutiques but they're kinda high, they're very high to me. And a lot of my fans don’t know how to put their stuff together. So my site will also show them how to wear their things.

Me: Do you ever have a day where you just don’t know what to wear? Because I can see you having that issue from having so many clothes.

Hollywood Posh: I'm the type of person to pick my clothes out at night. I put it together in my head so in the morning it takes me 5 minutes to get dressed. I have days when I wana wear everything, but there's always the next day. So I just wear whatever comes to my head. I feel like if you got style its just natural.

Me: What advice would you give to someone who wants to be more stylish but is afraid to come out of their shell?

Hollywood Posh: Okay, I tell most girls, young girls, grown women, whoever, to build a wardrobe. And I feel like you don’t have to go spend $500 - $600 hundred dollars to build a wardrobe. I feel like, you get a paycheck or you got a couple of bucks to treat yourself, go buy a blouse, or go buy something like a blazer. Stuff you can wear in summer or winter. Go buy a nice watch or buy a good leather pair of shoes, like cognac it goes with everything. I feel you should invest in items that you can be versatile with. Don’t invest in items that just are for trends that only last for a moment. Like color block, don’t spend a lot of money on that stuff because its just a trend.

Please be sure to visit and support her online boutique at www.poshworldboutique.com! The clothing is amazing!
Follow her on Twitter at Hollywood Posh!
Follow her on Instagram at hollywoodposh, to view her fashion photos!

It was so nice to learn about her fashion style! She was so nice to give me some insight and to share her opinion on fashion with me. I am inspired by her fashion and I hope she can inspire you as well. Now I want to go shopping! Sending so much love and thanks to my girl Hollywood Posh!!

Interview with Fashionista Sherry!!

My beauty of the day is Sherry!!! I came across her on Instagram (Follow her at koolkat_ss) about a month ago. I kept seeing her photos on the popular page and I had to find out her secret to her fashion genius! I had the pleasure of interviewing her and she gave me a lot of information! Check it out below!
Me: When did you know that fashion was your specialty? What inspires your fashion style?

Sherry: I didn't really know my sense of Fashion was anything special until people would come up to me and give extreme compliments. I get inspired by everything I see on a day to day basis. I take what I see on the magazine, people on the streets, custom attire of different cultures, men, everything that pleases my eyes I incorporate it into an outfit that I feel is badass.

Me: What are your favorite clothing brands? And why? Where do you mostly shop?

Sherry: I don't particularly have a favorite clothing brand. Im not a celebrity and as much as I love their lavish wardrobe its not something I can afford on a daily. I am an impulsive shopper and I buy clothing anywhere that catches my eye or gives me an outfit idea- from Walmart and flea markets to Ysl and Versace. I love the collab of high end fashion with urban street wear. I stumble across a lot of my pieces anywhere I go, online, I don't have a specific shop. I used to like Forever21 and all those teens shops when I was younger until everyone became a fashionista wearing the same clothing. I wanted to be unique and have things others would want to find. I personally like to thrift shop at savers, salvation army, etc. to find vintage pieces and give a modern look to it.

I love thrift stores, a lot of people don't appreciate it but fashion isn't about the the cost of clothing. I personally love the vintage designer bags and jewelry of people who no longer see the beautiful value it still holds. It is a piece that can grow with your style no matter how rapid fashion changes. A lot of people go in there and see garbage but if you have a creative mind you can do wonders with those old clothes. In all my outfits I almost always have something thrifted. Its like going to a fabric store, looking for colors and patterns, the only difference is the clothing is made just add your twist to it with a little snipping and sewing.

Me: What is a must have item in anyone's closet? A nice suit, black shoes, blazer, etc.

Sherry: That's kind of hard. I have a very wide range of wardrobe... But Basics and if I had to a gold chain, pumps, a pair of Jordan's, distressed shorts, a red blazer, harem pants, and a cropped tee. I can definitely make this a casual, edgy, classy, or sexy look.

Me: Do you have any upcoming events or major moves happening for you as far as fashion? (Ex. Styling any major events, styling any celebs, etc)

Sherry: No I'm just a normal girl from Hawaii and moved to Vegas for school. One thing I am honored about is im one of the few Rhianna is following on Instagram. She is definitely someone that inspires me as we share a same taste in street wear and high fashion. Having her as a follower and acknowledging my taste definitely motivates me to pursue something in the fashion industry soon.

Me: When you aren't coming up with thee best fashion outfits, what do you like to do?

Sherry: Besides shopping and hunting for other pieces that could be a potential outfit I'm normally studying. Im still a full time student. Other things that keeps me going is traveling. Which is where I get a lot of other clothing ideas. In Japan, I got to see all the funky and cute trend in harajuku, Barcelona- was the sophisticated leather and fur winter wear, Bahamas- The sexy bandeaus, distressed shorts, sheer clothing etc....

Me: What advice do you have for someone who wants to be more stylish but is afraid to come out of their shell?

Sherry: BE CONFIDENT. Everyone has their own sense of style and don't understand the versatility of fashion. It takes a very imaginative person to recognize how mix matched can actually match. A lot of people go for comfort but "pain is beauty", the most Fabbest things are literally the things to die for. I get put down a lot and get negative comments from others but if you're confident, what they say don't even matter. If what you do or wear is something you believe, eventually others get inspired.

Sherry inspired me so much!!! As you can see she is naturally talented in the fashion field! Her fashion is current and fearless! She puts items together that may not seem like it matches. But she puts things together so well, it all just works!!!

Be sure to follow her on Instagram to see her fabulous outfits at koolkat_ss.
Again, I thank you so much Sherry for doing this interiew with me, and sharing your thoughts with me about fashion! Sending so much love to my Beauty of the Day Sherry!!!

Interview with Celebrity Makeup Artist Crystal aka MissMUA!!

There are so many great things I can say about Crystal. aka Miss MUA! So I'll just start by saying, this girl has skills with brushes!! She is really really good!! She's worked with Vivica Fox, Basketball Wives Evelyn Lozada and Jennifer Williams, Erica Mena who was on Love and Hip Hop, and many more!! I am so inspired by her flawless work and so gracious to her for taking the time out to do this interview! Here she gives some insight into her life as a Celebrity Makeup Artist!

Me: How long have you been doing makeup? And when did you know makeup artistry was what you wanted to do?

Crystal: Professionally, I've been doing makeup now going on about 4 years. As far when I knew this is what I wanted to do? I have no idea Lol sounds crazy right?! I've ALWAYS loved makeup ever since I could remember sitting and watching my mom get all fancy (Shout out to my beautiful Mommy). Lol I didn't really think it was something I could do professionally because it came so easy to me. I suppose a part of me always wanted to do it, just didn't know I could.

Evelyn Lozada from Basketball Wives
Me: What was your first gig working with a celebrity?
Crystal: My first gig with a celebrity... hmmmm.. *puts on thinking cap* I guess that would depend on who you consider a "celebrity". The first celeb I considered to be big because one of her movies was one of my all time fave's (Two Can Play That Game) would be Miss Vivica Fox. I got so much valuable information on set from her.

Vivica Fox
Me: What's the best/ hardest part of working with celebs?
Crystal: The best part is meeting them and getting to know them as a person not a "personality", the hardest part is you never know what they'll be like. Lol Lucky for me the people I have been blessed to work with have all been a pleasure!

Erica Mena from Love and Hip Hop

Me: Who is one of your favorite celebrities you have worked with?

Crystal: Awwww.... tough question! Love them all, but I must say one of the sweetest has got to be Dawn Richard of 'Dirty Money'.

    Dawn Richard
Me: If you are not doing makeup, what do you like to do?

Crystal: I like to just CHILL. I'm not to big on the whole Hollywood scene, would much rather grab a beer or wine with some of my favorite girls at a low key restaurant or hole in the wall bar. Lol I'm also huge on FAMILY!!! Family and friends everything ell's is just "extra". Don't get me wrong I love music, dancing and getting a little fancy, but at the end of the day that doesn't define who I am or what I prefer doing.

    Draya from Basketball Wives
Me: What advice can you share with makeup artists trying to break into the industry?
Crystal: Go for it!!! It's ok to be scared, but it's NEVER ok to let your fears get in the way of your dreams. Know that it won't be easy, but it is possible!!! I'm far from where I want to be, it's still a work in progress and even for me the road ahead looks a little foggy at time, but it's nothing I can't drive through! I'm still practicing my art and learning. Never stop learning or wanting to learn. Do NETWORK!!! Put your WORK out there and not to much of yourself. Twitter & Modelmayhem.com are two site's I recommend. Modelmayhem is great when starting off and setting up trade shoots. You meet a lot of models, photographers, stylist's and hair artist's that way. (You'll find yourself doing a lot of free work in the beginning and that's OK!) Twitter is great to keep your follower's updated on your shoot and behind the scene work as well as tagging those you're working with.

    Tae Heckard from The Game
Crystal's published work on Evelyn Lozada in Juicy magazine
Again I thank Crystal sooooo much for this amazing interview!!! She is one of the best Makeup Artist I know. Seeing her work online, magazines and television definitely inspires me to keep going forward and never stop until I reach my dreams! She has all of my support! And the fact that she is a Celebrity Makeup Artist and took the time to do this interview means the world to me!

Be sure to check her out and support Crystal on Modelmayhem.com/MissMUA and follow her on twitter.com/MissMUA.
Sending so much love, support and thanks to my Beauty of the Day, Celebrity Makeup Artist MissMUA!! XOXO

Interview with MAC Makeup Arist Linda!!

As a makeup artist myself, I love learning from other makeup artists. I am always inspired by other people's work and it helps me sharpen up my skills and try new things. So when I came across Linda's page on Instagram and saw her amazing work, her flawless face, precision and her creative use of color, I immediately knew I had to interview her. Her makeup photos are regulars on the Popular page on Instagram, so you know she is good!! The Olympia, WA (south of Seattle) based MAC Makeup Artist was so nice to share her work and input as her life as a MUA! Check her out!
Me:  When did you realize that being a makeup artist is what you wanted to do?

Linda: I've always loved make up since I was young. I remember stealing my mom's red lipstick and wearing it to school, and being the only girl to rock baby blue eyeshadow in high school. It's always been a part of me. I've always loved makeup.

Me: Has makeup artistry always been your only occupation? If not, what else did you do?

Linda: I'm actually a full time Medical Assistant for Group Health. I've been a M.A. for 6 years now. I love helping people and making people feel better. I get to do a little bit of that in both my jobs.

Me: If you're not doing makeup, what else do you do??

Linda: I've always loved to sing and dance. I'm obsessed with ABDC and the VOICE. SOOO If I wasn't doing makeup, I'd be working on my singing/dancing skills!

Me: What's the best part of working for MAC? Hardest part?

Linda: I'm so blessed to be a part of a groundbreaking company. We are the worlds leading authority in makeup. I'm happy and proud to be a part of that. Its given me opportunities to grow and learn as an artist, since we cater to everyone. All ages, all races, all sex is our motto! The hardest thing for me is working 2 jobs. It can be really challenging at times, but I've done it now for 4 years so I must LOVE it right?!

Me: Do you think a MUA should focus on her craft or have her hand in every aspect of beauty to break into the business?

Linda: From my little experience in the freelance world, I've seen that people value an artist who has his/her hand in every aspect. Hair, makeup, styling. People love versatility and you're worth the money if you can do a little bit of everything.

Me: How do you perfect your craft as a makeup artist?

Linda: I get plenty of practice working at M.A.C and with friends and family. Of course, I always have my face to practice on too. Instagram has given me a huge opportunity to post my looks and creations. I've also had the pleasure of meeting other talented artist. So it's always pushing me to grow and challenge myself.

Me: What advice would you give to an aspiring makeup artist?

Linda: Keep practicing! Practice on anyone who will let you. Take pictures of your work, edit them a little, and build a little portfolio. You are your own walking billboard, so wear your creations everywhere! Always remember that makeup is a form of art. There is no right and wrong way to do anything. You have the freedom to express yourself. So do what you want regardless of what people say!

Please check out her Facebook page, Linda P. Makeup and follow her Instagram page at Beautyphanatics_Mua. She is always posting pictures of her beautiful work on both pages!
Linda is such a humble and talented makeup artist and I am thankful for her input! I am so happy to have had the pleasure to interview her!! I hope she was able to inspire you as much as she has inspired me!! Thank you dearly to my Beauty of the Day, Linda P!!!!!
